Educational Goal
• To encourage children to share events and experiences in the form of stories
Materials
• Picture books or magazines with scenes from different places-different areas of India, underwater, outer space, etc.
Directions
1. Show your child pictures of places your child has never been. Ask your child, "What colours, animals, and plants do you see? If there are people, what are they wearing? What is the weather like?
2. Ask your child to tell you a story about the picture. Encourage your child to point to specific people and places in the picture. Ask your child questions about how people in the picture are feeling and what they are doing.
3. Repeat with as many pictures as you would like.
Additional Activities
• Help your child make a picture book out of the story, either by drawing or making a collage.
• Help your child act out the story. Make costumes and props out of household items.
